IUCr SCIENTIFIC FREEDOM POLICY STATEMENT

The Organizing Committee of the 12th International Workshop on Protein Crystallization and the ICCBM12 shall observe the basic policy of non-discrimination and affirms the right and freedom of scientists to associate in international scientific activity without regard to such factors as citizenship, religion, creed, political stance, ethnic origin, race, colour, language, age or gender, in accordance with the Statutes of the International Council for Science. At this meeting no barriers will exist which would prevent the participation of bona fide scientists.

The Technical Council for Scientific Research of the UNAM

(CTIC-UNAM)

In 1938 based on the general administrative laws of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the National Astronomical Observatory, the Commission of Biological Exploration, the Geological Commission, and the National Library (at that time part of the Federal Government Administration of Mexico) were transferred to the UNAM, and were administrated by a Consultants’ Council. Afterwards, the research institutes of Astronomy, Geology and Biology were born, respectively. A year later, two more research institutes were created: the Institute of Geography and Physics, being part of the Scientific Research Sub-Network of UNAM. When the Faculty of Sciences of the university was created, there was a necessity to coordinate, promote, and make the association of these research institutes to the academia. This is the way that the Scientific Research Coordination office was created in 1945, nowadays called The Technical Council for Scientific Research (CTIC, in Spanish acronym) at UNAM. The personality of the Dean College of Science is the most important academic and scientific status to organize, and deal with the Science of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
